journalist

resume

I'm a journalist & copywriter reporting from Pakistan, Arkansas, Mississippi and the Standing Rock camps. Mostly my work is at VICE. I'm a Columbia University J-school alum, and a photographer & content strategist for hire & hobby. My other titles include: researcher, editor, fact-checker, proofreader, blogger & ghostwriter.

I cover ag & water for Verite News. But that’s just my latest adventure!

Read my longform piece on exploring public space, ownership and authority through grassroots restoration efforts at New Orleans’ long-neglected but never-abandoned Black beach.

Want to read the most impactful story I’ve ever written? I was the first journalist in two decades to call attention to the withheld information, incompetence and misconduct that led to Belynda Goff’s 1996 conviction. Thanks to the dedication of Karen Goff, her lawyer with the Innocence Project, in 2019 — after 23 years behind bars — Belynda was released from a life sentence without parole.

What about the (apparently!) most controversial story, resulting in dozens of livid phone calls and emails and over 100 (now scrubbed from the web) angry comments?

Here’s a piece that was really fun to report (tbh, there have been so many). Interested in one of my many nods to Susan Orlean? What about the most amazing place journalism has taken me? And I’m particularly proud of this longform piece, on the segregated proms at a public Georgia high school—held not in 1960 but in 2009.
